Hugo Chávez was a Venezuelan politician who served as the President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013. Born on July 28, 1954, in Sabaneta, Venezuela, Chávez was a key figure in Venezuelan politics, known for his charismatic leadership and socialist ideology. He rose to prominence in the 1980s as a military officer and later became involved in politics, eventually leading a successful coup against President Carlos Andrés Pérez in 1992. As President, Chávez implemented a range of reforms aimed at reducing poverty and increasing social welfare, including the establishment of a new constitution, the creation of a state-run oil company, and the expansion of healthcare and education services.
