Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP)
OrganizationAbout
The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) is an initiative aimed at addressing plastic pollution through collaborative efforts. Launched in 2018, GPAP works to translate political commitments into tangible actions by fostering a circular economy for plastics. It operates both nationally and globally, focusing on countries like Indonesia, where it supports national plans to combat plastic waste. GPAP convenes leaders from government, business, and civil society to develop action plans and align investments to implement these strategies effectively. GPAP's approach involves developing national action roadmaps, mobilizing investments, and promoting cross-sector collaboration. It has secured significant funding for waste management solutions and improved livelihoods for thousands of informal waste workers. GPAP also supports policy development and innovation in plastic waste management. By engaging multiple stakeholders, GPAP fosters systemic change in the plastics economy, contributing to reduced emissions and economic growth through green jobs. Its global network includes over 900 organizations, working together to combat plastic pollution effectively.
