Heelflip
Skateboard trickAbout
The Heelflip is a fundamental skateboard trick where the board rotates along its long axis, similar to a Kickflip but in the opposite direction. This rotation is achieved by flicking the board with the heel of the foot, unlike the Kickflip which uses the toes. The Heelflip was invented by legendary skateboarder Rodney Mullen and is considered a classic trick in the skateboarding community. To perform a Heelflip, skaters position their feet similarly to an Ollie, with the front foot near the front bolts and the back foot on the tail. The trick involves popping the board, sliding the front foot up to flick the nose, and catching the board in mid-air. It requires practice to master the timing and foot placement, but once learned, it opens up possibilities for more advanced tricks like the Varial Heelflip. The Heelflip is valued for its unique style and challenge, making it a staple in many skaters' repertoires.
