About

The Lord Dunn-Raven Stradivarius is a rare and exceptional violin crafted by Antonio Stradivari in 1710. It is one of approximately 700 surviving Stradivari instruments, and it was made during Stradivari's "Golden Period," a time when he produced his finest works. This violin is renowned for its outstanding tone and is currently owned by the renowned violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who often performs with it. The Lord Dunn-Raven Stradivarius is named after Windham Wyndham-Quin, the 4th Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl. It is admired for its powerful and expressive sound, which can range from delicate pianissimos to robust fortissimos. Mutter has praised the violin for its unique "tiger-like" quality, making it ideal for demanding concertos. The instrument's historical significance and acoustic properties make it a treasured possession among musicians and collectors alike.
