About

The Soil Stradivarius is a renowned violin crafted by Antonio Stradivari in 1714, during his "Golden Period." This era is celebrated for producing some of the finest instruments in history. The violin is named after Amédée Soil, a Belgian industrialist who once owned it. It features a brilliant red varnish and a two-piece maple back with the grain descending from the edges toward the center. The Soil Stradivarius is one of approximately 700 surviving Stradivari instruments, highly prized for their exceptional craftsmanship and rich sound. Itzhak Perlman, a celebrated violinist, has been the current owner of the Soil Stradivarius since 1986. Perlman often played this violin during winter months, appreciating its distinctive tone. The instrument's history includes previous ownership by notable figures such as Yehudi Menuhin and Oscar Bondy. Its rich tone and historical significance make the Soil Stradivarius a treasured piece among violin enthusiasts and collectors alike.
